Jan. Green Day concert

I've always wanted to see Green Day since they have so many good songs in their 8 albums. So they finally toured and for the first time in Bangkok since 1996. I got some center seats 2 months in advance for $60 each and went with Joe and Harold. Impact Stadium is pretty small (12000 capacity) but I guess most Thais can't afford such a show. From what I saw I'd guess at least 25% of the crowd was Westerners. We got sidetracked by drinking Singha (crap) beer and talking outside so we actually missed the first song. They actually play on time here, 8:30PM sharp.

The band and the crowd were awesome. Lots of fans got on stage to sing, crowd surfing, and many loud and fiery pyrotechnics. The concert ended at 11PM and they only took one 2 minute break before their encore songs. I can't count how many songs they sang but it was a lot. They ended with "Jesus of Suburbia", my favorite song since its like 5 songs in one. As I suspected Green Day is an awesome band live plus they play long with no delays. I recommend you see them now. These videos were with my iphone so they suck.

Jan. Talingshan floating market

There's a bunch of floating markets along the main river that cuts through Bangkok. I had a hankering for seafood so we rolled out to one. Truthfully it was just a few barges tied together where you could order food from small boat-kitchens, but maybe this was a smaller market. There were so many catfish, I could have just grabbed one from the water, but I didn't know if that was legal or not. The food was great and cheap. I got a 2 pound grilled fish and 8 huge prawns for 10 dollars. Some water taxis cruised by with their big V8 engines. I'm going back to eat some crab and mussels next time.

Jan Bike ride

Helmut, my German scooter friend always has some trip planned out in his GPS so this day we scooted out to Western Bangkok to some huge park. On the way out was an empty pimped out road that I got up to 110KMH on. I have no idea what the park was called but it must have been 200+ acres since it had a big buddha, lots of gardens, waterways, and big ass temples. There was a cool building with the blue roof that had the writings of Buddism on hundreds of huge stone tablets.

Check the Picasa for all the pics.

2010 New Years

Well I had to have some drinks on New Years. Me and my buds decided to just barhop. We kicked down some big ass Hoegaardens and then hit a dance club where I almost started a fight because I called a girl a ladyboy, after sticking my hand down her pants turns out she was a hot girl but now just very angry.

So we ended up at a club that filled its place with foam beads. I almost lost my iphone in the foam. All-in- all an uneventful New Years as always.
